Student Money Adviser
The Student Money Advice Service is looking to appoint an Adviser to provide a highly professional, visible, and proactive service, offering advice, guidance, and support to all students.
About Us
Student Money Advice provides timely advice and guidance in relation to student’s funding and overall finances, to ensure students are informed and receive their full funding entitlement, as well as taking a pro-active approach to enhancing financial capability across the student body, whilst removing financial barriers to allow students to study effectively and thereby promoting student retention.
We also promote, administer and distributes a wide range of university-related funds to ensure appropriate financial support is allocated to those most in need, as well as advocating on student’s behalf and engaging in an holistic approach to support by liaising with and referring to other teams within the Department and wider University to ensure appropriate support is provided.
About You
Responsible for the administration, monitoring & streamlining of the University Financial Support Fund, and other available University funding located within Student Support & Safeguarding, you will be engaged in student-focused case work, requiring advocacy skills, liaising with colleagues within the University alongside those in external organisations such as the Student Loans Company and banks.
You will collate and disseminate information on sources of funding and support, both internally to staff and students, as well as externally to prospective students, parents and outside agencies via a range of channels including social media and presentations.
You will
- need excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- be able to manage a complex workload where attention to detail is paramount.
- be expected to have good time management skills, with the ability to work effectively to a variety of deadlines, working on your own initiative but also as part of a team.
- be a solution-orientated and self-motivated individual, with a flexible approach to your work and will be part of a proactive team to develop and enhance service provision.
This is a part-time role, working 4 days per week (29.2 hours) for a fixed-term period until November 2026 or upon the return of the post holder.
At times, you may be required to support extra curricula activities such as the University Open Days, some of these will be outside normal office hours.
Student Money Advice currently employs hybrid working practices, with on-campus appointments and activities. While this is likely to remain the case for the immediate future, it is anticipated that the role will return to on-campus working. Therefore, you will need to be located, or willing to relocate, so that they are able to commute to campus.
