Our 2023–2027 Strategic Plan sets a transformative agenda that will shape the next chapter of our development with people at the heart. Created through extensive consultation with our staff and students, the plan outlines four strategic priorities that guide all that we do: our staff, student experience, teaching and learning, and research – all underpinned by a purpose to deliver Social Impact. These priorities reflect our role as a modern, values-driven university committed to delivering benefit locally, nationally, and globally.
The importance of our place as the University for the county of Northamptonshire is critical. Our recent Economic Impact Assessment shows that we contribute over £300 million annually to the local economy, supporting thousands of jobs and helping to drive sustainable growth. We are a proud partner in the We Are Northampton campaign, working with others to promote the town and region as an outstanding place to live, work, and thrive.
As we look ahead with confidence and purpose, we are now seeking an outstanding individual to join our senior leadership team as Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Becky Bradshaw, this is a pivotal role in shaping how we present ourselves to the world, engage with prospective students, and deliver on our strategic ambitions.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of innovative and inclusive marketing and recruitment strategies that reflect our institutional values and priorities. You will oversee the University’s marketing, brand, UK student recruitment, schools and colleges liaison, and digital communications portfolios. A key focus will be to lead data-driven and insight-led campaigns that attract and support a diverse and talented student body, aligned with our mission to widen participation and promote social mobility.
We are looking for a strategic, imaginative, and emotionally intelligent leader with a strong track record in delivering impactful marketing and recruitment activity in complex organisations. You will bring experience of digital transformation, brand development, and multi-channel campaign delivery, along with a deep understanding of the student journey and the factors that shape decision-making. You will be confident working across institutional boundaries, collaborating with colleagues across academic and professional services, and engaging with a wide range of external partners including schools, employers, and civic bodies.
Equally important is a commitment to the values that define the University of Northampton: inclusivity, sustainability, aspiration and trust. You will be someone who can authentically reflect these in your leadership and ensure they are at the heart of our brand and messaging. Our Strategic Plan places a strong emphasis on place-based impact, and you will play a vital role in communicating the distinctive strengths of our university, our region, and our contribution to wider society.
Joining the University of Northampton at this moment offers the chance to be part of a forward-thinking, student-centred institution with a clear and confident sense of purpose. You will help shape the external face of a university that is redefining what it means to be a civic university in the 21st century — one that works in partnership, empowers individuals, and contributes meaningfully to a fairer and more sustainable world.
If you are ready to lead with purpose, creativity and impact, we would be delighted to hear from you.
