Events Assistant
4 Days Old
Overview Of The Role
The Events Assistant plays a key supporting role in helping to deliver The Drum's exciting programme of live events. Working closely with the wider events team, you'll provide essential administrative, organisational, and logistical support across our global portfolio, from awards and festivals to client activations and internal company events.
This is an entry-level role, ideal for someone looking to start their career in events. You'll learn from experienced producers, develop your project coordination skills, and gain first-hand experience in what it takes to run professional events from start to finish.
Alongside your day-to-day administrative responsibilities, you'll have opportunities to take on more responsibility, such as supporting smaller events or assisting with specific areas of larger shows. As your confidence grows, you may even help deliver a full event under the guidance of a senior producer/event director.
Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you'll gain valuable exposure to events across the UK, US, and APAC regions. This role offers the perfect foundation for career growth within The Drum's global events team.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Provide essential administrative support to Event Producers across multiple projects.
- Assist with invoicing, Salesforce updates, and chasing unpaid invoices.
- Respond to general email enquiries and support entrants experiencing technical issues.
- Manage and respond to the awards site chatbot daily.
- Chase entry and ticket sales to support event revenue targets.
- Organise trophy and duplicate orders and manage delivery logistics.
- Assist with proofing documents and content, including event communications, scripts, and collateral.
- Ensure accuracy in all administrative work — from data entry to proofing — to minimise errors and improve team outputs.
- Support the Platforms Manager in updating and maintaining content on the awards platform throughout the awards process.
Event Support & Delivery
- Leading the set-up, pack-down of live events and assisting in the smooth running of events.
- Attend and support on-site at events as required (some travel may be involved).
- Support smaller events or parts of larger events, gradually taking on more responsibility.
- Liaise with venues and suppliers to gather quotes, confirm logistics, and manage timelines.
- Support the Content Team with judge, speaker, and administrative communications and recruitment.
- Assist with managing event check-in and registration, ensuring a smooth welcome for attendees.
- Help manage event materials, signage, and on-site equipment.
- Help maintain event inventory, equipment, and supplies.
- Work closely with the Labs Facilities team to support events in The Drum Labs, including preparation, set-up, pack-down, and maintaining the Labs space before, during, and after events.
Development & Growth
- Take on increasing responsibility for event planning, including logistics, supplier management, and timelines.
- Shadow Event Producers on larger events to learn production planning, budgeting, and creative development.
- Contribute ideas to improve event experiences, processes, and administrative systems.
- Build a portfolio of delivered events to support progression toward an Event Producer role.

- A degree or relevant qualification in Events Management, Marketing, or a related field — or equivalent practical interest and understanding of the events industry.
- An understanding of the marketing and communications (marcoms) industry is preferable.
- Interest in and enthusiasm for events, live shows, or marketing/communications.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Good communication skills and comfortable collaborating with internal teams.
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as experience grows.

- Friendly and personable, with a professional attitude when interacting with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
- Ability to stay calm and handle challenges in a constructive way.
- Willingness to travel when required.
